@ Lee "Almost seems that if it’s currently working for the “Web 2.0? de-facto sites, (Flickr, del.icio.us, *cough* Technorati), then who cares about anyone else?"

You might say that; I couldn't possibly comment!

@Andy, sorry you got caught in the askimet spam queue. Maybe it's because you included 5 links/urls? (or maybe they are trying to silence you?)

Thanks for your comment. It is rather odd that they've become very closed to any new ideas for the rel-tag spec. Almost seems that if it's currently working for the "Web 2.0" de-facto sites, (Flickr, del.icio.us, *cough* Technorati), then who cares about anyone else?

Ah yes, I remember now, the WP guys call that "PathInfo Permalinks"!

I guess it's just a case of parsing the URL for the "tag" parameter name/value?

Thanks Toby, I'll give it a go!

rel-tag fails to follow the much-vaunted microformats "process":

http://microformats.org/wiki/process

of only making a format by collecting evidence of what people are publishing, and codifying that. You will note that the "required" page:

microformats.org/wiki/rel-tag-examples

does not exist.

Here's some such evidence, collected after rel-tag was created:

http://microformats.org/wiki?title=rel-tag-other-evidence&oldid=24794

with a suggested work-around and here's the mailing list post where I raised the issue:

http://microformats.org/discuss/mail/microformats-discuss/2007-August/010508.html

There were no replies; as in other cases, the unelected cabal which runs the microformats "community" has repeatedly dismissed such concerns, on spurious grounds:

The rel-tag spec explicitly ignores the querystring! No joy there :-(

Agreed with ASP.NET MVC, it looks good!

Nah, maybe not. The sooner we get asp.net MVC the better I think.
